The Issues Before Us

You Can Tell When Something's Wrong

You know something is wrong when the Virginia Republican Party …
o Allows 43 seats in the Virginia Assembly to go unchallenged by Republicans - That's about 30% (28 in the House of Delegates,15 in the Virginia Senate) o Appears to be Missing In Action when it comes to the Virginia Assembly redistricting attack by the Democrats o Remove State Central Members, duly elected by the Districts, without ever explaining 'why' to the District voters o Fails to lead an organized push back when - the goofy Democratic Governor calmly discusses killing a baby after it is born - the Legislature seeks to restrict our rights under the U.S. Constitution - the goofy Democratic Governor locks-down our State with complete indifference to good sense and lessons learned with previous diseases o Makes no meaningful attempt to reach independents and Democrats to explain the awful effects of the Marxist policies the Democrats are pushing
o Makes no significant attempt to reach and present the general public with our Republican message; with our worldview; to explain
- the principles Republicans stand for (i.e., Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness); that the positions they take on the issues; just make more sense and are better for the Commonwealth and the Nation.
o Votes to hold a Primary for the U.S. Senate seat – allowing the Democrats to interfere with the nomination of our own Party’s Candidate for Senate, when they could have included the Senate Nomination in the upcoming State Convention As a result, we can't win races where we don't have candidates, and we have a very hard time in convincing anyone to vote for our candidates when we do run. It seems to me that these folks are working against us as surely as if they were an extension of the Democratic Party. Now it is easy to be critical and perhaps I’ve misunderstood something here – I am open to correction if I have. I am willing to give the ‘benefit of the doubt’. But there just seems to be no doubt that something is wrong when these things are going on.
Leading? Where?

Getting to the 'Why'

Was this what we wanted?
I’m confident that none of us at the Grass Roots level would want these things to happen. And yet it has. We look to our leadership to help chart a course to avoid problems like these. But it seems our State Party has lost its way. And even though we may point out the rocks in the water, they no longer seem to be hearing us. The Republican Party needs to return to its roots – its Grass Roots that is. They need to listen to the Grass Roots - to hear what they are saying.
Drowning Out the Message
Now there is a reason why our State Party - State Central Committee - is not hearing our message - not listening to the Grass Roots. When you exam the way things are structured, the voice of the Grass Roots is deliberately being drowned-out and overpowered by folks on State Central who are unaccountable to you and me. If they vote against us, there is nothing we can do to vote them out.

It is Time for a Change in Course

We need to make changes that will allow the Grass Roots to have the predominant voice on the State Central Committee. We need to place their hands back on the helm and steer a new course. Our Founding Fathers had it right - the People - the Electorate - are the Sovereign - not an unaccountable ruling class. As it is the voice of the people that should steer the Nation, likewise with our Party. The Grass Roots - the Electorate - should set the course of our Party. That’s why I am led to run for State Central, to be a voice for you in righting our course. I believe the only way we can do this; the only way out of our mess; the only way to revitalize our Party and bring it back to life, is to give the voice back to the Grass Roots and pray for God’s leading in all that we do.

Getting from Here to There

I have been working with a group of likeminded folks around the Commonwealth who have been seeking to chart such a new course. The product of this work comes in the form of a Proposed Amendment to the Party Plan. Further, it has been submitted to the Districts, Units, State Central Committee Members and RPV Leadership in time for consideration, discussion and a vote at the upcoming RPV State Convention. I believe this is an excellent first step and best approach available to bring our party back on a suitable course. Accordingly, I endorse this Proposed Amendment.
